Rome, 268 AD
In an age of tyranny and turmoil, an eternal love story ignites a revolution.

Valentine, a once-fearsome warrior reborn from the brink of death, sheds his violent past for a new destiny inspired by his blind lover, Agatha. Amidst the ruthless rule of a merciless emperor, Valentine undertakes a clandestine mission: to unite lovers in secret ceremonies, defying imperial decrees that threaten to obliterate the Christian faith.

As Valentine’s covert acts of defiance grow bolder, he challenges the tyrannical order, planting the seeds for a celebration of love that will echo through the ages—becoming the foundation of what we now cherish as Valentine’s Day.

The Legend of Valentine is an epic tale of love, war, faith, and rebellion. Against the backdrop of an empire in chaos, this gripping saga invites readers into a world where love defies all odds, heroes rise from the shadows, and the undying spirit of hope shines through the darkest times.

  • “I finished reading The Legend of Valentine, and I really enjoyed it! I congratulate you because the 3rd century is an extremely complex period. Moreover, the religious topic is very sensitive, and it’s easy to portray it as a good versus evil fight that makes the characters seem almost like a parody. Instead, here they feel like real people.”

  • “Collins’s historical backdrop is meticulously rendered, and I especially found the portrayals of Roman military life and political scheming to be the best parts of his writing. Overall, this is a well-done Christian historical novel that leans into the era’s turmoil, the quiet resilience of early believers of Christ, and the fictionalized bedrock of a day now and forever dedicated to love.”

  • “Readers need no prior familiarity with Roman history and affairs in order to appreciate The Legend of Valentine. The only prerequisite is an attraction to historical fiction of ancient times which, in this case, brings a legend to life and fills in many blanks with new possibilities. Collins’s creation of a vivid interpretation and exploration of the legend of Saint Valentine deserves widespread acclaim, and will reach a large audience of historical fiction readers.”
